Research Supporting a Low-Carb Diet
Studies show that following a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet results in weight loss, lower cholesterol, and stable blood glucose.
The links below reference a small list of summaries from research that has been done on low-carb diets, fat intake, and nutrition relating to carbohydrates.
Most sources, like the USDA, that promote low fat and low cholesterol consumption typically make statements that begin with claims such as, "numerous studies have shown...." or "there has been much research that suggests...." but without actually listing specific research. In fact, drilling down into some of the studies that are sometimes listed shows that either the studies were flawed, or that the conclusions regarding fat and cholesterol were exaggerated. However, in the interest of fairness, some links to sites advocating reduced fat or vegetarian diets are listed below.
