About The University
It is described as a for-profit private university that focuses on Healthcare degrees. American Career College was founded by David Pyle in 1979 under a prior name of American College of Optics. Prior to what West Coast University has become today, it was spun-off from Occidental College a Presbyterian Seminary which was a small Ophthalmology school. It was decided faculty wanted more curricula and between 1909 and 1959 and offered Aeronautical Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics and Locomotive Diesel Repair. As time went on West Coast University became pioneers in offering bachelor degrees to help working adults advance their careers. Fast forward to 1996 West Coast University went through bankruptcy and was purchased in 1997 by David Pyle of American Career College.
